Crias is Rafael Gonzalez and George Swattridge working creatively and internationally as a duo:
Working as a duet, we want to show the importance of connection in people’s lives. In the current world, an age of overwhelming technological advances, people become solitary, lonely and left behind. Traditions and connections that once bound us together are fading, and new encounters and gestures of care become increasingly difficult to grasp. Even our own connection with the natural world is severed, which is ironic considering we are undoubtedly a product of it.
Homúnculo (Work in Progress)
Homúnculo brings a little piece of a parralel universe to the everyday space. using an intricate language of hand-balancing and dance techniques, two masked creatures move between seperation and connection. They merge together to create new bodies - filling the space with strange and onricas figures. They give faces to their detailed corporal constructions, creating reflection of the often overlooked depth and interconnectedness of ourselves and the natural world.
Homúnculo will premier in December 2020 at LEME Festival, Portugal.
Homúnculo is currently receiving financial and co-production support from Bússola (Outdoor Arts Portugal). The Duo also have artistic support in the form of a residnecy from Ell Circo D'ell Fuego in Belgium.
As part of the creation, we aim to engage with our individual networks from the Netherlands, Portugal, Ireland and the UK, in order to create an internationally connected work, that is relatable on both personally and internationally - a reflection of their own connection as a duo.
